Safeguarding the environment

Safeguarding the environment

Sustainability key to a healthy future for all Sustainability is the ability to maintain or support a process continuously over time, and that is exactly what Amber by Living Gems homeowner Sharon Martin strives to achieve every day within her own environment. The mother of six children and grandmother of six, who is originally from Wollongong, south of Sydney, believes caring for the environment and adopting daily sustainable practices, is the greatest gift anyone can give to future generations. “We need sustainability for our health and the good of the environment, and taking action now is going to be so important for our children, their children, and families in the future,” she said. Sharon, 58, said practicing environmental sustainability helps to preserve our natural resources and uphold the ecological balance, all while safeguarding the welfare of both present and future generations. “Communities like ours that incorporate sustainable practices can benefit from cleaner water and air, and reduced exposure to toxins, which can ultimately lead to...

Living ‘gens’ - Two generations call Amber home

Living ‘gens’

Two generations call Amber home It’s a family affair at Amber by Living Gems with two generations living in the same resort. Robyn Miners and her husband Kevin Adams recently purchased a home at Amber to downsize and be near Robyn’s parents who purchased at the resort in 2022. “I’ve been in Queensland for 30 years, with Mum and Dad still living at Cooma in the Snowy Mountains,” Robyn said. “I never thought they’d move up here but when they put their house on the market, I knew they were serious.” In helping her parents find a suitable home, they found the best value for money at Amber by Living Gems. Her parents, Daphne and Ken, could move into a brand-new home and not have to worry about maintenance. Best of all, it wasn’t too far from Robyn and Kevin, or their granddaughter Savannah, husband Lachie, and their fur-baby Digby. Digby used to stay with Robyn during the day while his parents worked but is now...

Children’s playground to enhance family time at Amber

A new children’s playground at Amber by Living Gems, set to be built in the second half of the year, will add a fun, family-friendly space to the huge range of facilities on offer at the resort. The eco-inspired playground, designed for children between four and 12 years old, will comprise a slide, two climbing walls that give kids multiple routes to the top platform, in addition to other interactive features to encourage creative play. Living Gems CEO Adrian Puljich said the playground would provide opportunities for more family time at the resort. “As a family business, Living Gems cherishes the importance of strong family bonds; this playground is a way to support this. Many of our homeowners are proud grandparents, and this kids’ space will be a wonderful spot to take their grandchildren for some outdoor playtime,” Adrian said. “Research has consistently shown the benefits of outdoor play on children’s physical and mental wellbeing,” he said. The playground equipment is designed for children of...

Sporty Sandra gets into the swing If you’re ever looking for Sandra Morgan, there’s a good chance you’ll find her on the golf course at least four days a week. On the other three days, look for her in the gym at Amber by Living Gems’ newly opened Country Club. Sandra, and husband Gary, moved into the resort in November last year and are settling in nicely, though Gary is still very much a ‘golf widow’. As he’s not much interested in golf, he’ll get to join Sandra in the gym. “I’ve always loved sports,” Sandra, 73, said. “Netball, hockey, and squash have always been my main sports although I stopped playing netball when I turned 60 and fell over. You bruise a lot more when you’re older. “When I was 68, I learned to play golf. I decided it was the best sport for me as people aren’t running into you and you can go at your own pace. “We were living on Coochiemudlo Island...
